Project
Ardleigh Green Bridge Replacement

Overview

Value £380k
Duration 16 Weeks
Main Contractor Hochtief
Client TfL
Location

The work sees the 90 year old bridge, which carries the A127 Southend Arterial Road over National Rail lines in Romford, replaced with a new, wider structure offering improved facilities for pedestrians and cyclists.

The new bridge provides improved headroom for Crossrail and domestic trains running to and from London.

The project saw Sian Formwork working alongside ASK drilling LTD to complete extensive pile breaking and complex, reinforced concrete abutment construction.

With the main abutment shutters positioned within 3m of the live overhead power lines carefully planned formwork and earth bonding design was key to successful of the contract.

Early planning and collaborative working with Hochtief, Network Rail and TFL, meant that works to construct the abutments were completed in a series of short night time rail possessions.
